MANCHESTER, England - Rampant Manchester City passed the 100-goal mark in all competitions this season by overwhelming Cardiff 4-2 on Saturday to keep the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the English Premier League. Edin Dzeko brought up the century after just 34 matches with a scruffy opening goal in the 14th minute. Its validity was confirmed on the giant screens by the Goal Decision System, capping an early period of sustained dominance by the hosts. Craig Noone equalized for Cardiff in the 29th but Jesus Navas quickly restored Citys lead, and second-half goals by Yaya Toure and substitute Sergio Aguero kept up the teams 100 per cent home record in the league. Fraizer Campbell scored an injury-time consolation for the visiting Welsh side, which finds itself at the bottom of the table and ensures a miserable return to Manchester for Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The former Norway spent 11 years at Citys fierce rival, Manchester United, before retiring in 2007. The previous quickest team to reach the 100-goal milestone in a season was Chelsea, which took 42 games last season. That record has been obliterated by City with just five months of the campaign gone. If Citys finishing had been at the level Solskjaer regularly demonstrated in his pomp at Old Trafford, Cardiff could easily have lost by a nine- or 10-goal margin. As it was, the hosts had only a narrow half time lead to show for their dominance. Dzeko, under pressure for his starting place with the return to fitness of Aguero after a month out with a calf injury, set City on its way after 14 minutes by turning in a short cut-back from David Silva. The ball only crept over the line but referee Neil Swarbrick pointed to his watch to indicate the goal was valid, and replays on the big screens were cheered by home fans. That pushed City onto 100 goals and Alvaro Negredo wasted two great chances before Noone ran onto Jordon Mutchs pass, shimmied past Vincent Kompany and beat Joe Hart at his near post in the 29th. Cardiffs players barely had time to celebrate before they were behind again. As Dzeko prepared to shoot from the edge of the box, Steven Caulker slid in with the tackle but the ball fell to the inrushing Navas, who sidefooted into the corner. The visitors made it to the hour mark unscathed, but they were given no respite as Aguero was thrown on by Pellegrini to help secure the three points. He did just that, setting up Toure for the midfielder to drive a low left-footed shot into the bottom corner in the 76th minute. Aguero then scored himself three minutes later by twisting and turning his marker to smash a powerful strike past goalkeeper David Marshall. Campbell swept in a finish from close range in injury time but Cardiff was well beaten and will spend at least the next week-and-a-half at the foot of the table. Cheap Mike Piazza Jersey . EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Matt Frattin moved to Southern California this summer with a plan. Three weeks before the Los Angeles Kings opened training camp, he found a place close to the ocean in Hermosa Beach, but he wasnt looking for surf or sand. After an up-and-down hockey career filled with arrests and accolades, the 25-year-old Frattin realized the opportunity in front of him with his new club, and he didnt want to waste a day of it. "I wanted to meet the guys as they came in (for camp), instead of meeting 25 guys at once," Frattin said. The first few days of camp have gone well for Frattin, acquired by the Kings in a summer trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hes skating with veterans Jeff Carter and Mike Richards as the left wing of the Kings second line, getting every opportunity to earn a high-profile job with the two-time Western Conference finalists. "Ever since I got traded, Ive had a warm welcome from the leaders in the room," Frattin said. "Theyre a great group of guys, and Im happy to be here." Frattin announced his arrival Tuesday night with a goal and two assists in the Kings 6-0 rout of the Anaheim Ducks. Carter had two goals and an assist of his own, including a breakaway goal set up by a deflection off Frattins stick. Frattin has shown a good-looking shot and above-average speed in his brief time in town, but the Kings hope hes got the heart of a grinder who could do much of the dirty work on the Carter-Richards line. Frattin knows he must improve his defensive commitment to win coach Darryl Sutters approval. "If he wants to play with them guys, hes got to be a real north-south, energy sort of guy," Sutter said after seeing Frattin in a game for the first time Tuesday. "Well give him power-play time, give him some penalty-kill time. Make him work." For all of their veteran depth, the Kings are seriously short of proven left wings this fall beyond captain Dustin Brown. Grinder Kyle Clifford andd newcomer Daniel Carcillo also play the position, but Frattins skills could make him the best option for the second-line job.dddddddddddd. So far, Frattin isnt star-struck playing alongside two high-scoring Stanley Cup champions. "Theyre two great players," Frattin said. "Carts has the fast speed down the wing, and hes got that long reach, and he has a great shot. Richie is just a smart, hard-working guy, and hell get you the puck if youre wheeling. ... Theyre guys who have played in the Olympics and for Team Canada plenty of times, so theyve definitely proven themselves. They definitely bring me along, and theyre great linemates for me." Los Angeles also got goalie Ben Scrivens and a second-round draft pick for goalie Jonathan Bernier, widely considered a future star. Some Kings fans thought the franchise didnt get enough for Bernier, but Frattin believes he has potential he still hasnt reached. The Alberta native played collegiately at North Dakota, but was kicked off the team and sent home in 2009 after getting arrested twice in two months for disorderly conduct and drunk driving. He elected to stick with school, working his way back onto the North Dakota roster and eventually becoming a Hobey Baker Award finalist. Torontos fourth-round pick went pro in 2011, but still hasnt played a full NHL season, bouncing between the Leafs and the AHL Marlies during each of the past two years. He still found a regular role on the right side of Torontos third line, and he got his first taste of playoff hockey in the Leafs agonizing first-round loss to the Boston Bruins. Frattin hasnt completely made the transition to West Coast life: His Twitter page background is still a photo of him in a Maple Leafs uniform. The move to Los Angeles surprised him, but Frattin quickly realized the opportunity he had been granted. "I really didnt think I was going to get traded," he said. "But everybody wants to be a part of a winning team." ' ' '
